darktable
A mature open-source photo library and non-destructive RAW development workflow.
Compare camera coverage, library habits and the processing approach you want to learn.

A cross-platform RAW processor with detailed colour, exposure and development controls.
A candidate when developing original camera files is the main task; plan library migration separately.

LightCraft/01A preview does not prove RAW sensor decoding.
02Keep originals and library decisions together.
03Check camera coverage before comparing colour.
Try one workflow before switching
Pick a RAW file from your own camera and a small album with ratings and keywords. Try one correction and export a finished image. Check which organization decisions you can carry over before moving the library.
Check the camera and compression variant
Bring one normal exposure, a difficult highlight and the RAW compression variant you usually shoot. LightCraft documents incomplete colour calibration and some RAW variants that fall back to an embedded JPEG preview. Seeing a picture is therefore not enough to establish sensor-data decoding. Match the exact camera and file variant to the current support notes before judging the editing result.
Move library decisions as well as originals
Choose one small folder and list the ratings, albums, labels and edits that make it useful. LightCraft’s official library image shows its organization controls; it is not an imported Lightroom catalog. Keep library records and existing originals available while checking a candidate. A folder being readable does not by itself transfer Lightroom edits or cloud collections.
Compare a correction you actually make
Use the same exposure correction, white balance and crop in each editor, then inspect the exported image in the viewer used for delivery. darktable and RawTherapee document mature RAW-processing routes, with different editing models. For LightCraft, check the published camera and alpha-status notes before interpreting a colour difference. No colour-accuracy or noise-reduction benchmark was run here.
Decide where the next edit happens
A RAW developer, a photo library and a layer compositor can be separate parts of one workflow. If an image needs text or a composite after development, check that handoff in a layered editor. If the requirement is library-wide syncing, publishing or a particular Lightroom module, record it separately; local image development alone does not establish the same service workflow.
How to use this comparison
Run the same small workflow in your shortlisted products: keep the input, output and required integration the same. The table records documented scope; it does not report a side-by-side product test.
A few more details
Why can a RAW preview be misleading?
Some file variants contain a JPEG preview that an editor can display even when it cannot decode the sensor data. LightCraft documents such fallbacks; check the exact support notes.
Are all of these apps AI-built?
Only entries with an original maker record carry that attribution. Established products are listed separately and are not assigned an AI-build label.
Sources & maker notes
The AI-build attribution applies only to products with a linked maker record. Other options use the publisher’s current product documentation; prices and plans should be checked at the source.
