Check a small Markdown import
Import a copy of a few linked notes and check folder placement and links before migrating a full vault.
What it’s useful for
itsnotes makes a large note collection browsable as cards, lists and folders. Its Obsidian import and Markdown mirror make it worth examining if you want a different view of text notes while retaining a file-based exit route. The live service still uses a database.
Inside the product
- Browse notes as a card grid or list, with tags, folders and month markers.
- Import an Obsidian vault ZIP or selected Markdown files; the documented importer handles note links and images.
- Optionally mirror notes to Markdown files; the database remains authoritative and conflicts are saved separately.
Good to know
- You run the application and PostgreSQL service, including backups and upgrades.
- A vault importer does not reproduce Obsidian plugins, Canvas documents or graph behavior.
- Optional AI features use your configured provider. A local deployment alone does not keep every AI request on your machine.
The maker’s build notes
The maintainer explicitly describes the project as vibe-coded in the repository. No specific coding assistant is named in that statement, so no tool-specific badge is assigned. The screenshots are published by the project; this review did not deploy a server or test a vault migration.
A few more details
Does the Markdown mirror make the database optional?
No. The project keeps the database as its source of truth. The mirror provides a file representation and a documented route for reading changes back, with separate conflict handling.
