SEARCH & DISCOVERY
SaaS SEO Checklist for Pages, Indexing and Links
For a new product, make a few useful public pages easy to understand and find. Give each URL a distinct answer, check indexing controls and connect related pages before expanding the content library.

One answer per URL, then crawl and connect
01Keyword variants do not automatically justify separate URLs.
02A crawler must reach a page to read its noindex rule.
03Sitemap lastmod should reflect meaningful page changes.
Start with one practical task
Pick one landing page and record its main query, unique title, canonical URL and a useful inbound link. Fetch the public HTML to verify each item and check that a visitor can take the intended next step.
Give each page one clear job
Map a distinct search need to a page that answers it. Use an accurate, unique title and descriptive internal link text. Product claims need evidence; repeating keyword variants does not add a new answer.
Check indexing controls on public pages
Confirm intended public content is accessible without an account. Review noindex rules deliberately. Google must be able to crawl a page to see noindex; blocking it in robots.txt can prevent that rule from being read.
Keep the sitemap aligned with real pages
List the absolute canonical URLs you want discovered. Use lastmod only for meaningful page changes, not a fresh timestamp on every request. Connect related pages with useful links rather than publishing isolated URLs.
A few more details
Will a submitted sitemap guarantee indexing?
No. Google describes sitemap submission as a hint. Monitor discovered and indexed pages, then investigate the specific content or technical reason when an important URL is absent.
Should every filter and account page target a keyword?
Only create an indexable landing page when it provides a distinct, useful public answer. A private workflow or duplicated filter state does not become useful search content just because it has a URL.
